Round 5 of the Winter Series
Another fantastic turn out for our Winter Series, with approximately 25 drivers taking part. Another tricky day due to the weather, to be expected I suppose, with the track starting greasy and everyone on Spirals or Condors. However the track did start to dry out and by the the 3rd round of qualifiers most had switched to Mini-Pins and times started to come down.
Yet again Pete Clarke in his Mugen was on great form, taking the TQ, Rob Woodrow in 2nd and Gary Newman 3rd in his electric convert Kyosho Truggy.
We have increased the spacing between cars on our start grid however we still had the inevitable tagging on the first corner in the A final. Rob got a poor start and then got tagged leaving him at the back. Gary came out unscathed and in the lead and then never looked back, with some very consistent driving. Rob managed to fight back and briefly take the lead but another big tag and having to take the 5 second pit stop put him back in second. This allowed Gary to go on and win and setup a great final few lap battle with Pete to sort out 2nd and 3rd.
Final top 3:
1st Gary Newman
2nd Rob Woodrow
3rd Peter Clarke
Well done to all who attended, it was a fantastic day.
The final round takes place on the 12th March!
